Kid Friendly Taco Buns

Del Real shredded beef

In our home cinnamon buns are a real treat. The warm baked goodness just pervades the senses. I created these taco buns for the same reason. Using prepared pizza dough I created these mild taco buns for kids to gobble up! Easier to eat than tacos . Picky eaters beware- you’ll love them.

19.5 Minutes

  • 1 – 1 pound prepared pizza dough
  • 2 tablespoons corn meal
  • 2 cups Del Real shredded beef
  • ½ cup taco sauce /mild
  • 1 ½ cups shredded Tex Mex cheese blend
  • Cooking spray
  • 2 cups shredded lettuce
  • 1 /2 cup chopped grape tomatoes
  • 1/3 cup sour cream

Preheat oven to 375 degrees Spray large cupcake pans with cooking spray / 9 cups Sprinkle work surface with cornmeal and deflate dough. Flip dough and cover with sprinkling of cornmeal. Roll out dough to 10 X 12 inch rectangle. Place beef in a microwaveable container and Mw for 1 ½ minutes just to warm. Place meat in a strainer and squeeze liquid out. Place meat back into the bowl and stir in the taco sauce to season. Spread meat over the dough, then the cheese. Roll up into a 12 inch roll. Trim ends off to keep neat and divide the roll into 9 equal sized pieces. Place a piece into each cup. Bake 15-18 minutes until risen and done. Remove from oven and cool slightly on wire rack. Serve with lettuce, tomatoes and sour cream. Makes 9
