Barbacoa Chili Dogs

1. Barbacoa Beef, 2. Salsa de Molcajete Roja (Fire Roasted Red Salsa)

This Barbacoa Chili Dog is a quick and easy lunch or dinner entree, and is terrific for outdoor parties. Instead of the boring ground beef ingredient, the Del Real Barbacoa Beef transforms a forgettable chili into an amazing and UN-forgettable meaty chili that has tons of flavor and the right amount of spice!

Serves 6

20 Minutes

  • 1-16 oz pkg. Del Real Barbacoa (Beef Pot Roast)
  • Cooking Spray
  • 1/2 cup small diced white onion (divided)
  • 1 15 oz. can black beans (drained, not rinsed)
  • 1/4 cup Del Real Molcajete Roja Salsa
  • 1/2 cup tomato sauce
  • 1/4 tsp. ground cumin
  • 1/4 tsp. chili powder
  • 6 hot dogs
  • 6 hot dog buns or torta rolls (sliced down middle)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar (for topping)
  • Garnish: Cilantro

1. Heat Barbacoa in microwave for 2 minutes, according to pkg. initial instructions. 2. While heating Barbacoa, spray frying pan with cooking spray and brown 1/4 cup onion. Reserve remaining onion for topping. 3. With pan on medium to high heat, add Barbacoa to onion and break up into small, even pieces. 4. Gently stir in beans, salsa, tomato sauce, cumin, and chili powder. Cover and reduce heat to simmer. 5. While chili is simmering, cook hot dogs on outdoor or indoor grill. 6. Stir chili every 5-8 minutes and recover with lid. 7. Just before taking hot dogs off of grill, place buns on grill to heat through. 8. Remove hot dogs and buns from grill and top with the best and easiest chili you've ever made! 9. Top chili dog with cheddar cheese, onion and cilantro (if desired).
